Everyone knows that Tito's gameplan in almost every fight is to take his opponent down, but how many people have been able to consistently stop that? People with good takedown defense still got take down by Tito even though they knew it was coming and he always had an injury plaguing him. Machida is very light on his feet which will definitely help him outstrike Tito but he needs top stop Tito's takedown.

Once it goes on the ground, Tito is better on top than Machida is on the bottom and Tito has good sub D as well. I definitely see Machida eating some elbows although I don't see Machida getting finished.

Honestly, people's judgment on Tito's skills have been clouded by their unnecessary hate on Tito. Although he hasn't looked like the fighter he was before, he's still a really good fighter and can give any fighter in the LHW division a run for their money big time!

I love how everybody is counting Tito out for this fight. On paper, yes Lyoto Machida would destroy Tito Ortiz. Even so, how many times have we witnessed UPSETS in the UFC. Style wise yes, this is a terrible match up for Ortiz, but I'm confident he can come out on top on this one. IMO, if he can secure his take down and deliver some brutal ground and pound, then the fight is his. Tito can not afford to stand and strike with Machida because he will tear him apart. Let the Punishment begin...

Actually I don't even think on paper Machida destroys Tito. I think Machida takes it standing and Tito takes it on the ground. This would be a really bad style if Machida can stop Tito's takedowns but I don't think he can... so it's not really that bad of a style matchup either imo. I do agree that Tito cannot afford to stand and trade with Machida but when has tito really done that? I think only chuck cuz he had to! Tito's plan is simple, take him down and work from there.

The fight that was much worse on paper for Tito was Rashad. Rashad had better wrestling and was a better boxer than Tito. The expected plan was that Rashad would be able to stuff his takedowns and outbox tito much like Chuck did but as we saw Tito took Rashad down repeatedly and was in control for most of the fight.
