TTT. Added the classification "Die-Hard Fan". I'm a little surprised to see a lot of people get emotional and even angry at what was meant to be a light-hearted and goofy thread.

And for the record...just because you wear MMA shirts does NOT mean that your a Douchebag-Groupie. It's more about your actions than your T-Shirt. It's funny to see the people who know exactly what I'm talking about because they'll tell you that I'm dead on with my description.

I can understand why you have this opinion. I disagree however, because martial arts are much different than basket ball or any other sport for that matter. If you incorporate training MMA into your lifestyle and it becomes just as much a part of your week as brushing your teeth in the morning I believe that you are a mixed-martial artist. You may not compete (that takes a whole other level of commitment and time that most of us don't have) but you are a martial artist.

That's my opinion though and I do respect yours.

There's definitely people out there that fit the mold though. There's a guy that works the bar where I watch a lot of UFC PPVs that fits the bill. Tapout or Team Punishment shirt, obscenely large TAPOUT logo in the back window of his truck, etc. When the Rampage/Liddell fight was announced, he laughed when I said Rampage might beat Chuck and that Chuck was unstoppable. Needless to say, he was crushed (and poorer by $50) when Jackson cracked his ass. I've also had friends that were fairly new to MMA (started watching post-TUF1) and were completely blown away when I loaned them a couple DVDs I have of older PRIDE fights (CroCop/Fedor, Silva/Rampage fights, Shogun/Rampage, etc) and ended up getting the PRIDE PPVs up until the takeover.

I think there's a difference between people who generally enjoy watching MMA and UFC fanboys who are just trying to be trendy. The latter happens in anything that is new in the mainstream. Just something all of us older fans have to accept.

I buy some of the gear for two reasons. one I dig some of it, two I want to do anything I can to keep MMA moving into the mainstream. I want it to be around forever. I think keeping some of these clothing companies in business can only help.
I will say it's funny to see someone wearing a tapout shirt get choked out. It just happened at an Albany Bar. My brother works the door. He threw some dude with the camo tapout shirt. (Huge white letters) out and the guy told him he was going to choke him the fuck out. Next thing you know my brother open hand slaps him in the face, and chokes him unconscious. Friging priceless.
