1) The language barrier - Most of Fedor's fighters would have to speak English. A big part of TUF is the interaction in the house. If most don't speak English, putting them all under one roof really won't work. They would have to restructure it somehow. Even still, it will probably resemble the situation of Jin and Sun for all the Lost fans out there. Not sure how that would go over with TUF fans.
2) Current legal battle with Couture - Randy's major reason for leaving the UFC was not getting the fight with Fedor. Sure he said he felt an overall lack of respect for a long time, but apparently it was tolerable if he was able to stay with the UFC until the announcement came that Fedor was signing with another org. If they are able to sign Fedor, Randy's major issue will be solved. If the uFC agrees to call off the attorney's if he will fight, these should become non issues. They can even say they will renegotiate his current contract to throw him a little more cash to ensure he is happy. Will be worth it to the UFC in the end.

There are a bunch of reasons why this makes sense too.
1) Exposure - Fedor is the greatest fighter that no one knows about (other than US hardcore fans). Putting him on cable will give Americans a chance to get to know him and get his name out there. Even for hardcore fans this will be interesting. Fans know very liitle about what he is really like since most of the time he is seen fighting and interviews with him seem to be somewhat limited. This would be a way for his personality to come through.
2) The Money - This a big time fight that can make big money. But the only place it will really make the money it can will be under the UFC. This fight NEEDS the UFC brand in order to be a real financial success. Fedor will want a lot of money and they may need to pay Randy a little more to ensure they get him back. To make this fight in a smaller org does not make sense. This fight has to happen in the UFC if the fighters, their management, and the organization want to make real money. Anywhere else will be throwing money away. Fedor and Randy must both realize this.

I have seen other people say that the UFC should sign Fedor and then accept Randy's resignation. That is just Randy hating. Pure lunacy. It would never happen (if the UFC got Fedor). There is too much potential money in that fight and they would never leave it on the table like that. I think Fedor annd his management are finally realizing the risk involved when signing with a start up or smaller organization. I don't know why they didn't see this earlier. The bottom line is, in the UFC, if you sign a contract, you will end up getting all of that money. In any other org, it is not a guarantee. Crazy dollar amounts and promises from small orgs are not realistic. The market can't support those big dollars for other orgs. Even EXC who is starting to gain some momemtum.

There are still barriers but at least this fight is slightly closer to happening now than it was a few weeks ago. It doesn't seem like there are any insurmountable barriers here.
I think that you are underestimating the marketing machine of the UFC and overestimating the draw of Fedor to the "average fan".

I understand that the people that like Randy want the best of both worlds, but I just don't think it is likely. They want to find somehow some way that Randy and Fedor can fight and have it make tons of money for everyone involved. Sad to say, I strongly disagree.

The UFC could put on a Randy vs Tito or Randy vs Chuck or Tito vs Chuck, hell, any combination of those 3 and/or Rampage, or maybe even Forrest, and still make more money than Fedor vs Randy.

The idea of the show is a fun one, and a good brainstorm, but it wouldn't draw people. Have you ever heard Fedor in an interview? Compare him to Tito or Rampage. Who would be a bigger draw as the coach of a reality show?

Again, it doesn't get over one of the biggest sticking points of the reason Fedor and the UFC didn't come to terms in the first place. The UFC doesn't want to make a name of Fedor and not get return on investment when he leaves after 2 fights. Fedor doesn't want to be bound to a long term or restrictive contract. Even IF the show worked, it would still be a matter of the UFC acting as Fedor's PR and Marketing firm in the USA. I don't think they would do it.

this was actually thought already by m1...they said that they would have a reality show that will be featuring fedor and randy as coaches..the only thing different was just not having fighters from their own gym as their team mates or subbordinates...something like that...

So here goes:

The next season of TUF is America VS Russia with Fedor and Randy as coaches. The Russian team features prominent members of Fedor's Red Devil Fight Team and the American team focuses on Randy's Xtreme Couture Gym. This ensures that Fedors team members get at least some exposure at most, at least a few fights in the UFC (maybe the winners in each division get a titleshot or something).

The finale is live on Spike and the next PPV features Randy VS Fedor. The winner of the Fedor/Randy fight will fight to unify the UFC title with Nog (or whoever may beat Nog in the interm).

Opinions?
Solid. It would help get the casual fan familiar with Fedor although he'd painted as a heel. If Couture lots, it would be insane. I like the idea though!

Wow, very imaginative idea. Rep'd. Only if Dana could think outside the box in such a way.

it does`nt sound like a bad idea but i am sick of waiting for tuf finale to see a great match up i have a better solution sign fedor and his brother aleksander give him a limited amount of times to compete in sambo and if he wants to bring more of his russian buddies just put a stipulation in his contract where it says with each fedor victory dana has 2 sign one of his stablemates 2 a contract or pay him a bit more for each time he cn or wont sign any of his stable mates??? problem solve we get to see the fight alot sooner and have the unification bout set up by early next year instead of next summer!!
