Thoughts on covering somones mouth and nose with your hand...

Henderson spent at least fucking 2 minutes doing this to silva and as far as im concerned is bullshit. It takes no technique to cover someones mouth and nose with your hand and if you can't do something real on the ground it should be stood up. I lost some respect for Henderson because of that I mean he got Silva to the ground and did nothing with it. Of course Silva was doing his best to tie up hendo, but in the post fight interview he said maybe he should have popped up and thrown some shots... Instead of trying to finish the fight he decided to cover silvas mouth and nose with his hand till the end of the round....

I agree. I thought that was dirty, and most likely one of the reasons that Silva (while still professional and respectful) kind of didn't give a shit about Henderson and didn't give him mad props like he did with Rich.

Just like elbows on the ground it's legal and doesn't take any skill, but it didn't hurt Silva since he can breathe threw his nose. Henderson would have been better off throwing some hammer fists instead.

This is a technique that is used in almost every fight that hits the ground.

It's been used since the inception of BJJ and I'm sure long before that, seeing that Hendo isn't even a BJJ guy.lol


IMO it is an effective tool that restricts the opponent from getting air, same as a choke.

Elbows on the ground require no skill? How about getting into position to posture up or pass gaurd to land effective elbow shots? You are quite possibly the biggest retard on this board and thats no small distinction. Yes throwing elbows on the ground is not a skill, anybody can do it, its like throwing a light hammer fist, everyone knows how to do it?
I am not saying it's not effective or that some guys do it better than others, but you don't get a black belt in throwing elbows on the ground.

Of course getting into position and posturing up is a skill I never said it wasn't, again you must learn to comprehend words better.
