Silva, Henderson, and leben earn "Fight Night" Bonuses

Anderson Silva earned $120,000 in “fight night” bonuses in the wake of his second-round submission victory over Dan Henderson on Saturday.

The fight capped off UFC 82, which took place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Silva earned $60,000 for Fight of the Night (Henderson also picked up a $60,000 bonus) and $60,000 for Submission of the Night. Chris Leben, meanwhile, earned a $60,000 Knockout of the Night bonus for his first-round TKO of Alessio Sakara.

Both fights took place on the night’s televised main card.

UFC president Dana White released the bonus winners and amounts in a post-event press conference. MMAjunkie.com (UFC News & Rumors - MMA News - UFC Fighters - UFC Event Recaps and Previews - MMAjunkie.com) confirmed the amounts with the Dayton Daily News.

Silva defended his UFC middleweight title by securing a second-round rear-naked choke of Henderson, PRIDE’s reigning 183-lb. The victory was Silva’s first career submission victory that didn’t come via strikes.

Silva joins just a handful of fighters, including Marcus Davis and John Koppenhaver, who have picked up two “fight night” bonuses in one event.

i thought okami would get knockout of the night, tanner was out, my friends and i were yelling at the tv when leben was coming out, we all dislike him, he really can take a punch, he got hit multiple times and kept coming forward, as much as i dislike him did have one of the more entertaining fights, props to leben, and man 60k extra is a nice bonus, the spider deserves his 120k, i dont think the other orgs are giving those type of bonuses yet, one a side note dustin hazelett is going to be a beast, he looked solid and is only 21, i was hoping he was going to get the ko against kos

I am betting when he resigns with UFC which should be really soon, his new contract will be very very nice.

i think it`s nice that fighters are finally getting paid what they are supposed 2!!! they are away from there families to put food on the table and entertain us its only right.

yeah Hazelett looked impressive in the first round. I like him and he can be an elite fighter in a few years

Well deserved.

And I think UFC is doing the right thing by increasing bonuses for KO, submission and fight of the night. That makes people go an extra mile ( especially fighters that are not paid hundreds of thousands per fight )

Yes and no. I can see Silva being a guy not too overly concerned with money. He is all about competition and proving himself to himself. I could see the UFC throwing a ton of cash at him, and him still wanting to go fight somewhere else if he thinks it would be a better test.

But, it would make me cry a little bit...

why did henderson get a bonus for getting his ass kicked?

Hendo didnt get his ass kicked.
He kicked Silva's arse in round1, and silva was able to get him to the ground and get a choke in round 2.

I dont see that as getting his arse kicked.
