Lesnar: Bring on the wolves

Brock Lesnar admits he faces the danger of finding himself completely out of his depth when he fights Frank Mir, but the former WWE champion wouldn't have it any other way.

Lesnar hangs up his WWE pro-wrestling trunks to step into The Octagon at “UFC 81: Breaking Point”, where he will he be able to hear the scratching of pens as the watching media await his spectacular downfall.

An unquestionable talent in wrestling’s squared circle, Lesnar will have the Mixed Martial Arts world gripped in Las Vegas to see if he can beat former heavyweight champion Mir.

“We’ve had a good training camp, preparing to fight Frank, now the reality sets in so let’s see what I can do,” he said in the pre-fight press conference.

“I’m up for the challenge and I’ll fight anybody.

“We’ve taken a huge gamble, and it may be that I’m being thrown to the wolves but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“This is serious for me. This is my career. This is what I want to be doing.”

Mir admits he is walking into something of a no-win situation on Saturday. If he loses people will ask why, if he wins the focus will be on the quality of his opponent.

“There’s always expectations ahead of such a big fight,” said Mir.

“I remember when I fought Tank Abbott and everybody was saying ‘this guy Mir’s gonna get his head torn off’.

“Then I read the headlines the next day (after Mir won) and they were asking why a guy with no submissions was thrown in against a Mixed Martial Artist.

“I was thinking ‘wow, these are the same guys who said the day before I was gonna die!'”

I like the fact that he will fight anyone, but this fight with Mir will prove a lot about both fighters.
