Shogun Says fight with Liddell IS CONFIRMED
Rua Signs to Fight Liddell
Quote:
Mauricio Rua (Pictures) has signed to fight Chuck Liddell (Pictures), the Brazilian told Sherdog.com.
"The fight against Liddell is confirmed," Rua said. "I signed the contract yesterday. Now I am going to train hard, focused on him, to represent my new team, Universidade da Luta, and my country. The fight is going to be in June."
Rua, 16-3, debuted in the UFC in September 2007 after a career in Pride that had earned him a reputation as one of the best light heavyweights in the world. However, Forrest Griffin (Pictures) upset "Shogun" at UFC 76, submitting him with a rear-naked choke in the third round.
The Brazilian left the storied Chute Boxe camp last year. He recently returned to training after knee surgery and is in the process of establishing a new team with his brother, Murilo Rua (Pictures).
In December, Liddell defeated the Rua brothers' former Chute Boxe teammate Wanderlei Silva (Pictures) via unanimous decision. The long-awaited fight was seen as a critical victory for "The Iceman." He had lost two bouts in a row before bouncing back with the decisive win over Silva.

Right now, I pick Chuck. Once I see how big Rua is, I may change my mind. If he has bulked up considerably, I may pick him.

tough to say
cant really gauge off of the Wandy fight cuz Wandy didnt throw a single knee
cant really gauge off of Shoguns last fight or Chucks fight before Wandy cuz neither looked like themselves
If they both give there A Games, I take Shogun but at this moment it doesnt look like both will show up primed, someones gonna show up with a B or lower game and get beat.. more then likely itll be Shogun.

I see Shogun taking this one fairly convincingly.
The guy is 26 and after his last loss to Forrest where he was basically dominated and then tapped I think his ego is really going to motivate him to train his ass off. I'm not saying he's a cocky guy, but any 26 year old with his skills would come out with something to prove.

I dunno whether Chuck will still have that fire that carried him through the Wandy fight. He wanted that fight bad, u could see it in his eyes similar to the way he looked before Randy II.
When he faces Shogun I dunno whether he'd still have it and if he's to have a chance he'll need it.

This is a nightmare fight for me to predict. they both are my fav fighters depending on the day so i dont even know who to pick. this is even worse than the chuck/wand fight. I'll say chuck for today tho.

Can't wait to see this fight. If a healthy Shogun shows up, I can see him taking this. Chuck has been knocked down in his last three fights and he lost two of those. I think Shogun will do better than Wand did.
