Default Robbie Lawler back in the UFC?

Any news on the length of Robbie Lawlers contract? I would like to see what he could do against the top in the UFC now that he has matured as a fighter.

I just watched the replay of him beating Trigg for the Icon Title, which was awesome seeing Lawler KO Trigg in the corner. That was a serious beatdown.

Then watched the replay of EliteXC fight when he won their title beating down Rua. Lawler took everything Rua had to give, and just kept coming with Lawler TKO him convincingly in the 3rd.

Y'all think there is any chance we see him back in the UFC MW division any time soon?

I wouldn't mind seeing him back in the UFC and I wouldn't mind seeing him back at WW too.

I really hope so. That division could definatly use talent like his. I wouldnt mind seeing Trigg or Rua in the UFC either. The MW division needs some more talent IMO.

I kinda like him more at MW, he hasn't seemed to of lost any speed in his hands at all, and his take down defense is still very good.... I am wondering if the drop to 170 was too much for him.....

I think it was, he's seemed to have more success at MW, at least outside of the UFC, than at 170.

Incidentally, I think the weight cut is something that's been plaguing Nick Diaz as well.

I agree.. Some fighters just cant cut weight and maintain the energy needed to be successful in a fight.

The UFC could definately use him at MW, but I don't see him coming back soon. Didn't he just sign a contract w/Elite XC not too long ago and he holds both the ICON and EliteXC MW belts. I would imagine they would try to hold on to him.

He signed a 4 fight deal before his fight with Rua. So with 3 fights left on his deal the earliest you could even see him in the UFC would be sometime in 2009. He's still recovering from an injury that kept him out of his ICON title defense against Hose. I'm not sure when he'll be returning to action. Most likely it will be sometime in spring or summer of this year.

i agree that the mw needs new blood, lawler would be a fantastic addition. if henderson fails to beat silva, theres nobody left to challenge for the mw title. all the other exciting middleweights are in elitexc.
