Maybe he has a reason to not like Soko..
Lets not start an UGLY rumor on these forums. There is no indication that Machida is a racist at all.

I think he was sayn those things because Soko had alot to say about brazilians before the Arona fight.

Soko talking smack about Brazilians slips my mind.. not saying you are making it up or anything, but you have a link? (I am curious to read it)

Did you watch the last pride event? Soko said something about how brazilians think they are from the jungle, i cant quite remember the exact words. just watch the last pride show. Machida mite have taken Soko words the wrong way. IMO.

He never said anything really offensive, but being a goofball he says a lot of shit he doesn't intend to be taken seriously.
As for Lyoto, dude is obviously a class act, the fact that he owned that post-fight interview via a translator definitely gave his profile among newb UFC fans a bump

Maybe he thinks he's superior to Soko both standing and on the ground. I'd agree with him. It's not like he said "Soko sucks and a five year old could kick his ass," he just said he was better.
And for the record, I liked the undefeated shirt. He's undefeated, he's not fighting hacks or getting handed controversial wins...he's earned it. It's better than any of Tito's shirts.

"Mach" is actually Sakurai's nickname, not Machida's. Just wanted to make sure you'd gotten on the right bandwagon...you never know where they're headed.

It is possible that he may think it. I am not saying he trashed Soko. But, if I think I am better than someone, it is better that I kept it to myself as to not look cocky.
The fact that he wears undefeated shirts kind of goes with the whole cockiness thing. Sure, he earned it, but to flaunt it is basically saying, "I'm undefeated and I'm the shit."
It could all just be mind tactics.. so for right now, the jury is out on Machida (when concerning whether or not I think he is cocky). This interview certainly showed him as a class act.

C'mon, he was asked a question about whether he thought his standup matched up with Soko, and he answered it. If only fighters like Tito, Melvin, Bisping, Serra and Rashad could be so restrained.
The guy gets nearly zero respect, even though he's a great fighter. He fights a tactical fight, people say he's boring. He pounds out a fighter who was favored to KO him, people say he's cocky.
There is a difference between talking unsolicited shit and not backing it up, and just confidently answering a question.
But that's just my opinion, and I respect yours. I appreciate that you indicated he was a class act.

just a bad interpretation me thinks

i think his translater is the one that gave it a negative spin if anything... if you watch his face after what was said, it looked like he (the translater) was mean muggin soko..

how were u not aware of him saying it?
the interpretor said after the fight something in the lines of: "soko said he trained kung fu in the jungle for this fight, maybe he should go back to training karate in the jungle"
im kinda lost as to how ppl dont understand that or mistake it as something racist. its pretty straight forward.
