Ken Shamrock and Son Official Sign with Elite XC
Quote:
EliteXC on Monday announced that it has signed Ultimate Fighting Championship and Pride veteran Ken Shamrock and his son, Ryan, to multi-fight deals. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
“We’re thrilled to have signed Ken and Ryan Shamrock,’’ said EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw.
“Ken is responsible for putting MMA on the worldwide map and making it what it is today. I have the utmost respect for all the Shamrocks. Believe me, I have signed fighters with EliteXC and many more in boxing, but I can truly say I’m as excited about this signing as I have ever been.’’
Both Ken and Ryan Shamrock will fight on the upcoming March 8 Cage Rage event at Wembley Arena in London.
“I’m totally committed to returning to the cage injury free and anxious about fighting in England for the first time,’’ said Ken. “It is very exciting for both Ryan and I. We will be making MMA history by being the first father and son to ever fight on the same card.

I hope Ken is fighting at HW.
Cutting even to 205 has always taken away from him IMO.

That would be a rad fight. If Kimbo won it would help out his image as a MMA fighter even if Ken is old and over the hill.

i was watching some old Ken Shamrock fights and it makes me wish he was still the same guy. his fight with Fujita was awesome even though he lost. its been all downhill since then pretty much. i wish him luck and hope his son fairs well in the game!

I can't believe Ken is getting back into MMA. What is it going to take for this guy to stop fighting..?

Ken is one of those guys who just doesn't seem content with the idea that his best days are behind him. When you've done something really well for a really long time its a hard realization that you're no longer among the best at your craft.
I gotta admire Shamrock's drive. The guy is in incredible shape and has never really let himself go. But he's no longer that class of fighter.
It'd be good if he could immerse himself into something other than fighting and be content with that. Like maybe focus 100% on coaching instead of half assing it like he did on TUF. Concentrate on the kids his training rather than his latest rivalry.

i think its a good move for both parties I mean yea Ken's best days are behind him BUT If he wants too keep fighting then EXC is a good place for him. Frank vs Ken fuck it I will watch right now, make it happen Gary Shaw.
