Gina Carano Scratched from EliteXC’s Feb. 16 Fight Card

Earlier month, the organization announced that Carano would face an undetermined opponent at the Feb. 16 EliteXC event, which takes place at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Arena in Miami, Fla. The event, which airs on Showtime, is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Kimbo Slice and Tank Abbott.

However, in an updated press release issued today, Carano’s name wasn’t on the fight card. Additionally, an EliteXC official today confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (UFC News & Rumors - MMA News - UFC Fighters - UFC Event Recaps and Previews - MMAjunkie.com) that she would no longer be part of the event.

Carano couldn’t be reached for comment. However, MMAjunkie.com has heard grumblings of a potential rift between EliteXC officials and Carano’s camp. Those rumors couldn’t be substantiated, though.

Carano, who made her EliteXC debut with a February 2007 unanimous decision victory over Julie Kedzie, can currently be seen as the gladiator “Crush” on NBC’s reincarnation of “American Gladiators.” The show airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Carano has been one of the show’s biggest stars through the first few episodes, though “American Gladiator” executives haven’t really promoted the fact that she’s an MMA fighter.

Carano, 25, posted a 12-1-1 record in Muay Thai competitions before making her MMA debut. Her first fight was also the first-ever state-sanctioned female fight, which took place in June 2006 for the Las Vegas-based World Extreme Fighting organization. Carano is a perfect 5-0 in MMA, winning two via decision and two via knockout.

In her most recent fight, Carano earned her first career submission victory with a rear-naked choke of Tonya Evinger at a September EliteXC event.

well since i dont really care all that much about Elite XC, ill stick with watching her on AMerican Gladiators LOL

she's huge on AG, not a bad huge, but they had her listed at 155lbs...DAYAM BABY!!!

Why keep trying to train vigorously and cutting brutally to make weight for MMA fights, when she can make more money and more fans hitting people with big Q-tips once a week?

Lol I saw that too. She is a big girl just doesnt look it in her fights. Iv never done a girl whos 155 lbs. but I think I would make an exception for her.

Judging by her reaction after her last fight she is pretty grossed out by Gary Shaw, maybe he's tried to fuck her or something. Who knows? He may have told her he can make her career blah blah if she would let him fuck her. Maybe he scratched her because she wont fuck him. Shit like this goes down in Hollywood all the time. I'm sure it goes down in Pro-wrestling, and the organizational structure isn't far off in mma. Gary Shaw is a slimy dude.

Just a theory... probably not true. But a possible reason. Or maybe she just makes more cash hitting people with giant q-tips! LOL

Yup, when i seen that, i thought to myself I really do not see her fighting on that Card.

Doesn't she fight at 140 or some shit. She has said in the past she cuts weight slow, so i don't think she ever had any intentions of fighting on that card, i bet it was just Elite saying hey your fighting and she said Hey im not lol.

Hey she must be doing okay on AG. If it gets picked up next year for a second season, then her salary will really go up as per Acting Union.

yeah she cuts to like 145 or something. and apparently every time she's cut to that weight, she's had troubles.

who knows, being on AG, we may not see her in MMA for quite some time...
