Frank Shamrock will defend his Strikeforce middleweight title against Cung Le on the second Strikeforce and EliteXC joint show scheduled for March 29 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. according to Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports.
The event is expected to air live on Showtime and include two Strikeforce bouts, two EliteXC bouts, and one bout featuring a Strikeforce fighter against an EliteXC fighter. Meltzer stated that a news conference announcing the event is expected some time next week.
Shamrock last saw action when he defeated Phil Baroni in the main event of the first Strikeforce/EliteXC joint event on June 22, 2007. He choked Baroni unconscious towards the end of the second round.
Le has built a perfect record of 5-0 since venturing into mixed martial arts in early 2006. In his last bout, fighting for Strikeforce in November, he defeated Ultimate Fighter veteran Sam Morgan by TKO early in the third round.
Also expected to fight on the card are Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez and contender Josh Thomson. The bout had previously been announced for March 29 at Strikeforce’s November show in San Jose.
Melendez has since lost to Mitsuhiro Ishida on New Year’s Eve. It is not yet known if that will affect the status of his bout against Thomson.
EliteXC fighter Jake Shields is also expected to fight on the card.

If Le comes out like he did against morgan, shamrock will tool him. I still think he will turn out like sokoudjou on the ground, and shamrock is pretty solid down there.

I honestly don't see Le winning this, not even close. Shamrock owned Baroni on the feet, and he's even better on the ground. Now I agree Le is a better striker than Baroni, but I see Frank taking this one to the ground and it won't come back up.

Baroni looked like garbage in that fight, he stood there and ate shots with the equivlent reflexes of a dinosaur...
Shamrock almost had a heart attack after that fight as he was using Goldberg as a crutch...
Can't wait to see Cung Le Ko his ass...

with what, those telegraphed spinning kicks, or those lazy judo whips. Come on, i dont think Cung knows what hes getting himself into, Frank Shamrock, even though alotta ppl give him slack, is an awesome fighter, his stand-up is crisp and his ground fighting is his bread and butter. His sprawl isnt that great but i doubt cung is even thinking about taking him down. Cung isnt the fighter we all thought he was, Sam Morgan looked extremley terrible in that fight, and Shamrock tooled Baroni worse than Cung tooled Morgan. Morgan looked worse than i did in my first fight in grade 3. That San-shou kung-fu movei krap wont work on Shamrock, Cung better learn some real techniques...

Dude Frank couldn't train cardio for that fight because he fucked up his knee before it (Torn ACL) you shouldn't bitch most guys wont even fight with it so I think he did pretty well considering. BTW I think this will be closer than people thing but Frank will still come up on top.

^ I am rooting for shamrock
I predict Shamrock comes out aggressive, pushes him against the cage, switches levels and gets a takedown, followed by gnp... every round
Shamrock by decision

Shamrock by "wake up call" to Cung.
Cung is fun to watch, but Shamrock is too rounded a fighter for him. Sure, Cung might catch him with a one strike KO, but other than that, Frank will be smart about the fight, take Cung down, and Cung will not get up. Frank by sub round 1.
