UFC Fight Night 13 Targeted for April 2 in Colorado -- MMAjunkie.com

The UFC and Spike TV are finalizing details of a UFC Fight Night event that will precede the debut episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 7,” which will take place April 2.

Multiple sources closes to the event recently confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (UFC News & Rumors - MMA News - UFC Fighters - UFC Event Recaps and Previews - MMAjunkie.com) a variety of details.

The event is expected to feature two main fights: a lightweight bout between UFC lightweight contender Kenny Florian (7-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and “The Ultimate Fighter 5” standout Joe Lauzon (16-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC). Additionally, light heavyweights Stephan Bonnar (11-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC) and Matt Hamill (3-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) are also expected to meet at the event. All four fighters are former cast members on “The Ultimate Fighter” — a trend with Spike TV’s “Fight Night” events.

Additionally, as MMAjunkie.com first reported last month, Colorado will likely be the event’s host site. A venue hasn’t yet been decided, but it’s expected to be in or near Denver.

The upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter” will feature 16 middleweight fighters coached by UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson and 205-pound contender Forrest Griffin (they’ll meet in a title fighter after the show’s completion — likely in July or August). The show will air Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

UFC Fight Night 13’s undercard is expected to include additional veterans of “The Ultimate Fighter,” including a few of the top fighters from the show’s recent sixth season. Mac Danzig was the show’s winner, Tommy Speer was the runner-up, and other notables include Matt Arroyo, George Sotiropoulos and John Koppenhaver.

Kidding aside, seems like a step-down in competition for Kenny (only in terms of notability/rankings, not in skill). Kenny better not overlook Lauzon. These two styles clashing should make for a very entertaining fight.

I can't believe they're doing another "coaches fight for the title at the end of the season" promotion. The last one worked out *great* for the UFC. I guess the UFC likes having interim title belts floating around, and their title holders fighting only once every 9-12 months. This shit gives me a headache.

I'm in Colorado I will be there and I hope they have it at Pepsi Center or maybe the Broomfield Event Center even though its small there but they had the smaller show Ring of Fire there. My First Live UFC event for me.
