MMANEWS.COM Fighter of the Year
This might should be in the suggestions section..my bad, but should we put together a fighter of the year type thing for the site? maybe take a vote, or maybe the group that is going to be working on the rankings can all converse and vote who the fighter of the year is going to be? I dunno it's just a thought. Might be a cool thing to be on the front page, "MMANews.com Fighter of the Year is _________" or whatever and then have an article written about the fighter and his accomplishments throughout the year. basically a rip off of sherdogs front page, but i think it would be cool.

It's very close between anderson silva, couture and rampage.
Couture came out of retirement, beat the odds and won the hw title and then beat the odds again and finished gonzaga.
Silva sub'd lutter in rd 2, finished a top 10 fighter in marquardt in the 1st rd and finished a top 5 fighter in franklin
Rampage fnished beastman in rd 2, finished liddell (the #1 lhw at that time) in the 1st rd and finished dan henderson (the #2 or #3 lhw) with 2 titles in unanimous decision.
I give it to Rampage. He's beaten 2 guys who had the titles and looked really good while doing it... close second is anderson.
Vote: Rampage

I was impressed with Couture beating GG and Sylvia, but both of those fighters are far from great.
Silva beating Nate and Franklin was damn impressive,
But Rampage destroying Chuck (truely the most dominant UFC LHW Champ ever) and beating Hendo has to put him up as fighter of the year.

Silva. Rampage had a great year, but Anderson dismantled everything that came his way and looks pretty much unbeatable at this point.

not to sound like BCS polls but the andersons quality of victory was much higher for me. There was never ever any question that me might lose in those fights. Completely dominating.

Rampage wins it for me. He's 3-0 in 2007. Defeated Chuck in less than two minutes to become LHW champ and defeated PRIDE LHW champ Dan Henderson in a 25 minute match where he pulled away from Hendo towards the end. I think the year belongs to Rampage.
