GSP: "What those reporters said was not even true."

Savage Dog Show: Georges St. Pierre

interesting that gsp made an effort to get this information out there..i have a lot of respect for this guy now. this shows that he's got character

edit: since certain people don't understand the meaning of FAST FORWARD, here's the scoop:

A reporter came into the gym to watch GSP train when he was working with Jardine, Rashad, etc. Well the reporter happen to witness gsp sprawl a takedown or 2 on rashad and them, and the reporter also saw gsp score a takedown or 2. The reporter proceeded to say that gsp was taking rashad and the other guys down, yet they couldnt take him down. GSP wanted to go on record saying that wasn't even true, that the reporter only witnessed one round of sparring, and that gsp sprawls on rashad, rashad sprawls on him, and they each score takedowns from time to time. He was upset because it made his teammates look bad, so he wanted to go on record saying that the reporter was full of shit...

Essentially a reporter had stated something to the effect of St. Pierre stating at some point that Rashad couldn't take him down. St. Pierre denied saying that and wanted to make sure people knew that he does not put down any of the people that he trains with and that he values them alot.

He basically said that some reporter put words in his mouth and reported that he was putting other fighters down, and he wanted the story straight.

I think he has always showed alot of character and respect. He is probably one of the most respectful fighters in the UFC. He definately goes out of his way to set the record straight and I like that.

Anytime man. I had a few things to do before bed so I just flipped it on and ran out the clock.

I figured most people would like to skip right to the nitty gritty. Its a real shame you can't just roll over to the specific time you're interested in. Sure it has a fast forward function, but it definetely ain't speedy.

I beleive 100% that GSP would say something to that affect. I also beleive that as soon as its reported that he'd backpedal. Look at the guys track record, and not just the Serra stuff. He's done it way too many times. I'm all for being bold and brash, but if you're going to say it, you need to stick with it. Even 79 showed a good example of it. They showed the post fight when Serra beat him and he said "No excuses" then in the 79 post fight he continued to bring up how he had issues "mentally and physically in the fight with Serra".

I know two things about GSP that he cannot argue or backpedal from:
1) He ain't the champ until he beats Serra
2) He wants no part of Jake Shields

Well I think GSP is very very careful about what he says ever since his loss to Serra. We all remember the backlash he received from giving excuses after he lost. He had to even switch camps as he was not welcome back at Renzo Gracie's school. GSP no longer gives excuses and even salutes his defeated opponent as we saw him being a class act after he beat Hughes this past weekend.

Considering he basically threw down the interim title I don't think you have to worry about the first...

And considering Shields is NO WHERE NEAR GSP in terms of skill or ability, I don't think Jake has to worry about the beating he'd receive...
