espn and ufc?
i cant understand why espn doesnt cover the ufc. it reports on boxing and in my opinion the ufc has already swept the boxing industry, or it will be within the next year. i would love to turn on espn and see them giving a report on the ufc, but you cant always get what you want. but thats me.

I completely agree, but I think the reason why they don't have it on is because espn shows friday night fights each week and I don't think boxing would like them to show anything to do with mma because they feel threatened that it will become even more popular

There was an excellent article about this subject in RealFighter magazine a few months back. It basically says that ESPN doesn't want to air MMA because it is harder to understand than boxing, and the fighters often take more superficial damage (cuts) than they do in boxing, making it look more barbaric. It also points outs that in some foreign countries where MMA is more established that in the U.S., ESPN does air some old PRIDE fights.

ESPN is slowly getting into MMA, they're just not jumping in with both feet quite yet. They're testing the waters before they fully show support to MMA. They've had Dana, Chuck and Rachelle on Quite Frankly with Steven A. Smith and Dana, Georges and Matt on ESPNews.

Guys it is real simple, ESPN has too much money placed into boxing to bring in a sport that could be considered competition. Now if we really look at it from the eyes of the general public, who mostly consider MMA mothing more then bloodsport, ESPN has nothign to worry about. Even though it is hard to understand, boxing and all it's corruption, hold a higher place with the average fan then MMA will for quite some time. But with ESPN it all comes down to money. They are doing their own PPV's now and have certain fighters that can only fight on ESPN tv or PPV. To be honest what I wouldn't be surprised to see is if ESPN ends up becoming more open to MMA they might purchase a smaller promotion, like the WFA or IFL or maybe even KOTC and show them. ESPN doesn't want partnerships that they don't hold majority stock in.

I don't get it. They air those countless shows of bowling and fukking poker tournaments. I know a lot of you guys play poker, but does anyone really watch it on TV? On ESPN classic a few weeks back, they actually aired a bowling tournament from the 80's. It was a marathon that was on most of the day. The clothes the kegglers wore are now actually back in style.
Seriously, do bowlers and poker players watch it on TV?

Rachelle is a good face for the sport. That girl is so good looking it is ridiculous. She is also educated, as she is able to talk to AA in his native language as we saw in that behind the scenes UFC show before Sylvia-AA II. I wonder what kind of coin she makes and if she is salaried. I see her making big money elsewhere in the future, and not just for her looks.

Rachelle probably makes very little on her actual ring card duties. But makes the bulk of her money for the photo shoots, appearances and hosting All Access.

I actually watch poker on TV, and enjoy it. But if MMA and poker went on at same time I would definitly watch MMA.

Okay, fair enough. I don't play, so I guess that's why I don't get it.
