i thought it was weird too. im guessing since he is no longer going to work within Zuffa/UFC Dana didnt want to give him any publicity. I would laugh my ass off if Big John started reffing M-1 Sponsored events. We may see him Ref at YARENNOKA!! haha

I think he is retiring becasue he cant ref the best (read Fedor) and hes done all he can do in the UFC and now they havent signed the best, there are no more challenges left

BJM should definatley be inducted into the hall-of-fame!!!
Despite what palma thinks, BJM is undoubtably the best MMA ref in the buisness!

I have to give credit where credit is due. John has done this a long time and I have always felt like it was fair regardless of whether the guy I wanted to win won or not. My biggest complaint has always been calling fights too early and all of them are guilty of this but I think he exercises the best judgment. I think Lavigne lets it go the longest but I think he lets it go too far for who is fighting sometimes. I think John tend to weigh in the fighters and the importance of the match before calling it a TKO. I don't feel like there have been many refs out there that are considering the fighters abilites as accurately as he is.

I say Big John goes to war with Steve Mazzagatti!!! I am tired of Mazz letting people LNP!!! He should get a beat down for it.

I really hope Big John comes back and refs the Chuck/Wandy fight. It just seems fitting that that fight, which has been built up for years, should be the last fight in Big John's hall of fame career.
