How long do you think it is going to take for the UFC to bring a 145 division. Had it not been for Sherk getting suspended they may have already been talks about expanding to another division. I'd like to see one in a year or two. The LW division is quickly becoming a stacked division imo. the 155ers are usually the most exciting fights on the card so after stacking the division you can get some of the smaller guys like manny gamburyan(sp) and tyson griffin while bringing in some exciting fighters from japan.

I'd be hard to sell ppv's with 145 title match as a ppv for awhile but i guy like Faber may eventually become a big enough to sell some tickets.

As a part of the main UFC product, I doubt it will ever happen. The only 145lb fighters with any kind of name recognition in the US are Faber and maybe Kid Yamamoto. Add that to the fact that I've been doing FW rankings for like five months and haven't fielded a single comment/suggestion about the division and it just doesn't seem like the interest is there.

Since the UFC's sister organization, the WEC, mainly focuses on the smaller fighters I don't see it ever happening.

I admit I'm completely out of my depth at the 145 rankings, but I think there is potential there.

Jens has said he's interested in dropping, I think Manny Gamburyan will drop as soon as he fights anyone who is top 15 at LW. Those are two names a lot of casual fans know--while it's not enough to build a division from scratch, it's possible.

They could even do another TUF season with the lighter class, I guarantee it would be better than this season, and would make a new crop of fighters household names, regardless of their talent.

I do think the UFC needs to sort out it's messes in other weight classes first...resolve the Sherk/roids and the Serra/back interim titles, gain some depth at MW that doesn't involve Henderson staying at 185 and fighting A. Silva every three months.

that why they have WEC, UFC's sister promotion and its for lighter weight classes

i would think that is a match like kid vs faber were to happen then that would occur in a ufc ring tho

People just arent interested in the lighter people here in the US. The LWs dont get that good of ratings or sponsership bucks (Sherk has always said that he gets paid a lot less in terms of sponserships because hes a LW). US fans really want to see the HWs and LHWs. So, given that the LW division is a bit of a push, I dont see FW happening anytime soon.

I'm with you on this, but a guy like Faber who keeps winning and doing it in an entertaining and dominant fashion is going to eventually have to be brought to a bigger stage. People are slowly getting turned on more and more to WEC, but a hell of a lot more viewers get SPIKE than the VS network.

The name recognition and interest isn't there because its just not on a big enough stage yet. Mind you, I wouldn't mind if it were never actually on a UFC card, but don't rule it out just yet.

i just dont see it happening i am not interested at all about guys fighting at 145 i just think it is 2 light a weight and is (excuse the term) midget fighting, i could never see a 145 fight being a main event and i believe the fighters that fight at tht level would be able 2 get up 2 the 155 pound limit for lightweight
