Not to make excuses for Frye but from what I heard he only said those things because Shamrock wouldn't fight him and he figured that was the best way to get Ken to step up, which it did. He even apologized after the fight.

Ya after Shammy broke his ankles...Fry knows and admitted he lost that fight
