PPV vs. Live
For those of you that have gone to a major MMA event, ever thought that being there live was worse then watching it on PPV? IMO, the angles are better on PPV and obviously closer, and the ground game is almost unwatchable live. Either that or your staring up at a jumbo tron screen just to see what is going on and that kind of defeats the purpose of being there. The only thing I liked about going live was the roar of the crowd.

I like them both to be honest. I was at UFC 68, which was incredible because I got to see so many good fighters live, Fitch, Hamill, Babalu, Hughes, Franklin, and obviously Couture beating Syliva was crazy. The crowd was amazing, the electricity was amazing, I loved every minute of it. On the contrary, I enjoy sitting on my couch with my buddies drinking for much cheaper, and I’m able to smoke (cigs and other) take a piss when I want, rewind/pause if need be etc.
The cool thing is that I don’t get many opportunities to see a live event because I live in Columbus, so when they finally come here I’m definitely going. I was there in March, and I’ll be there in October, other than that I watch all the cards in between at home. But I say you should experience it live at least once because it’s fucking awesome.

I have been to events (not an MMA one yet, that will change at UFC 78) and obviously rented PPVs. I think live is great to do once in a while with good seats and you get to say you were actually there. You get to feel the crowd and all that crazy stuff. On the other hand, sometimes there is shit in the way, some people love hearing commentary (although I am okay without it), sometimes it is hard to see, there is silent downtime between events, etc.
So, I voted either because either can be nice.

Forgot about the commentating, but I also ordered the PPV so I got to go home and watch it again and listen to the commentating so it was all good.

I think it also has a lot to do with your seats. If you can shell out a grand and get in the first 5 rows that might be better but for the most part I would rather watch it at home with a bunch of friends and not limit who I go with based on their income. Replays are nice to, of what you want to see, if only you could mute Goldburg

I had some pretty good seats for UFC 68 and I only spent $250 on them. When I get home from work I'll try to remember to find some pictures I took and post them sometime. I don't know why I never did right after the event.

I've never been to a UFC but I have been to some local shows, but gotta be honest, crowded arena, expensive everthing, sharing toilet, missing a knockout. I'll go with cozy home, 43" lcd with digital surround sound and dvr, pause baby!! With private bathroom, all the beer I can drink for what it would cost for like 2 there. I'll stay home.
Now don't get me wrong, if I get the chance to go to them I'm going. LOL

I've been to 2 UFC's and one PRIDE.
One downside of a LIVE event that I experienced is that you can't hear the commentators. I was upset that Randy/Goldy and Rogan/Goldy weren't there guiding me along.
The upsides of LIVE are: - Getting autographs of fighters
- Roar of crowd
- Being with real fans
- Hearing the HW's hit and kick each other!
For those of you that like the big-screens and surround private bathrooms... remember, you can always go home after the live fight and watch it again (DVR) with those amenities!

Storm, where did you see it and how much did it set you back for the tickets?
Was it difficult to get autographs or was it a frenzy? I want to go when UFC hits NJ.
