FightHype.com recently caught up with veteran MMA middleweight David "The Crow" Loiseau to talk about his training with Team Jackson, his goal to get back inside the Octagon and his training partner and fellow Canadian George St-Pierre, who just had an impressive victory over Josh Koscheck at UFC 74. Check it out!
PC: How is everything going my man?
DL: Everything is going well. I'm out here in Vegas still. I was out here for George's fight, you know?
PC: When can we expect to see you fighting again?
DL: I had an injury and that's why you haven't seen me in the cage, but hopefully October or late December.
PC: Before your fight at Art of War in May, you were coming off of three losses. How important was it for you to get that win?
DL: It was real important. What was really important was for me to fight the way I could fight. I wanted to fight to my potential. Fight my fight, you know? That's what was important because when I fight my fight, I win. I wasn't focused on winning. I was focused on fighting to the best of my ability.
PC: You were known in the UFC for your elbows and it seems like you got away from them. Can we expect to see the elbows come back?
DL: Oh yeah!! For sure! 100 %!
PC: I know you are involved in an MMA organization over in Canada. Could you tell us a little about that?
DL: Yeah. It's an organization out of Quebec. We just want to help out the up-and-coming fighters and we're doing little shows. I think it will grow big in Canada, but we're starting off small, you know?
PC: I'm sure you were proud at the way both GSP and Patrick Cote represented Canada at UFC 74?
DL: Yes. Definitely.
PC: George hinted to Dana to bring a card to Canada. How big will that be for Canada?
DL: That would be great for Canadian MMA. 100%, you know? If the UFC comes to Canada and I'm not on the card, I'm going to leave the country man. Straight up!
PC: So, your ultimate goal is to get back into the UFC Crow?
DL: Yeah, that's my goal. My goal is to be UFC world champion. That's my goal. That's the vision I have and no one is going to stop me. Sooner or later, I will be back in the UFC and reach my goal.
PC: Are you still training with Team Jackson, and if so, how is that going?
DL: Oh yeah! I'm part of Team Jackson now also. Me and George train together in Montreal and we have a couple of guys out of Jackson camp that come out here to Montreal to train every once and a while. I'm going to start going to New Mexico and train also. I haven't been down there yet, but I'm going to start going. But I'm affiliated with Greg Jackson's camp.
PC: If you could fight any middleweight in any organization, who would it be right now?
DL: Oh, anybody. It's not personal to me, I just want to fight. I just want to fight the way I can fight and it doesn't matter who it is. When I fight the way I can actually fight, that's when I'm at my best and I'm exciting. I bring it and I win when I fight the way I'm capable of fighting.
PC: Dave, I won't keep you on your phone much longer. Good luck on your goal to reach the UFC again. Is there anything you want to say in closing?
DL: I want to thank all of my loyal fans for their support. I was at the UFC this past weekend and the fans showed me so much love. I was really touched because I haven't fought in the UFC in a year and a half and the fans show me so much support. They want to see me back in there and I'm going to do my best to get back there and stay there.
