UFC getting too big?
I was just thinking about how it seems that there is just so much going on in the UFC now and there are so many great fighters.... but there are only so many belts too.
With the great list of HW and LHW fighters who have joined the UFC as of late, it would be nice to see a much faster turnaround in between title fights. Unfortunately as of the past year or so there have been many long waits due to injuries or schedule clashes because of the Ultimate Fighter. I mean, Matt Serra is going to hold the belt for 8 months without defending it... its been nearly 6 months that Randy has had the belt without a fight... and who knows when we will see the LW belt up for grabs again.
I think there is going to be the need to see a much quicker turn around on title fights (I'd like to see them defending their titles every three months personally). With so many great fighters now who are all in the running, it is kind of sad having so many of them have to wait such a long time for their chance. At least if they weren't consolidating the Pride belts.. there would be that extra opportunity for a belt.
What do you guys think?

I think that if they can get Fedor and Hendo into the UFC then they FOR SURE need to unify the belts, no question on that one

They will just push some of the talent down to the WEC if they feel that they have too many fighters under the UFC.

I'd have to disagree personally. I like how the UFC is growing. We're getting to see some dream match-ups and having so many good fighters can only lead to having better fights.
I'll agree that it sucks for some fighters, like Karo, who have to wait a really long time before their shot at the belt, but I'd rather have that anticipation growing rather then having guys that aren't worthy fighting for the belts simply to fill an open spot.
I also think it addds more prestige to a belt if you have a lot of good fighters pushing for it. When Matt Serra loses (and I hope it's soon personally) then look at all the suiters that'll be dying for their shot at the belt. I definitely prefer that situation as opposed to the sad state of the HW division a few months ago. If Randy had lost to Big Tim who would have been the next condenter (assuming Vera wasn't an option).

The problem with the UFC getting so big,is that too many fighters having to wait too long between fights/paydays.The Exclusive contracts suck for the fighters also.It holds them waiting in limbo for fights/money at times.A fighters union is in order I think to protect their best interests.

I don't think it's too big at all. It makes the titles mean something. We could be like boxing and have a new belt at every 5 pounds. that'd suck ass.

I can see where you're going with this, but the "lack" of belts doesn't really bother me. The reason is because (in any organization) we see so many incredible fights with no title involved. Personally, I'm just as amped (if not more so) about the upcoming non-title fights as the title fights themselves.
Let's just get these fights going already!!!

this is exactly what we've all been waiting for, you know! i honestly think that this means that if you hold a title for any amount of time that you have rightfully earned and deserve it because in hopefully a few short months, all of the "greater talent" will be fighting in the cage and even in my book the non-title fights will be main card and even main event bouts. trust me, this is better for all of us fans. well have a few setbacks from dana from time to time, but we all gain from the expansion of the ufc.
PERIOD

They need to start a HW division in the WEC. This would help alleviate some of the problems in that division at least. Keep Cotoure, Nog, CC, Gabe, AA, Vera, etc... up in the UFC and send the others down to get exposure and compete for a belt.
It's only a matter of time before someone steps in to fill Pride's shoes, IMO. There's way more than enough great fighters to have 2 top promotions.
