If Gabe beats Randy

If Gabe some how beats Randy does that really mean he is the real deal.

IMO if he beats Randy to me that means nothing. Randy is 44 and at any given day time could catch up to Randy.

So to me Randy is a hero an a legend but Gabe beats him to me that means very little because he beat a 44 year old man that could have woke up on day before the fight an time caught him.

what does everyone else think.

i think it means something, just not a hole lot. imho cotoure looked in better shape vs sylvia then he ever has. but he really is over-ranked. as much as i and everyone else love cotoure i think most of us know hes a tad over-rated [plz dont flame me lol]. but id still consider it a solid win and it proves he is a top hw. i just wouldnt throw him in the top 5 if he does it. i think he needs another good win after cotoure to seal him as a top 5.

It means something but it also would depend in the manner of "how" he won. I think after Gonzaga's next couple fights we will have a better foot hold on if he is the real deal and how far he may go.

dude hows couture overrated?? no one has said hes the best striker in the world or that he has a great record, hes credited for being an excellent wrestler and having great hart, both of those have been proved.

i'm sorry but you cant be a 44 year old heavyweight champ and be overated, he deserves all the praise in the world and more

I think if he beats Randy and wins his next fight or few fights against like Nog, Mirko again, Tim, AA, Vera, any of those guys will mean alot.

But to me beating Randy doesnt mean much, i mean of course it means something he will become champ, but in terms of top hw or serious threat no.

don't get me wrong but the heavyweight division was lacking for a while and I think poopy pants is a sub par fighter so I don't know how to say this politly randy should be ready for a loss

I'm somewhat inclined to agree. Randy is still a huge force, to be sure, but nobody can keep up that pace forever.

If Gabe beats Randy, he'll have taken a HUGE step towards being considered the real deal.

IMO, though, if Randy beats Gabe decisively, that'll prove a lot more.

that really doesnt make sense. beating tim would mean more than beating randy?? did you forget the beating randy gave that dude???

This is how I feel.
We need to see GG in action to get a feel... If he absolutey destroys Randy, then it will mean a lot more than if he squeeks by with a decision or something.

Well, considering the fact that people will be saying that Gabe was all hype if Randy wins, I think it is only fair to consider him the real deal if he beats Randy.

But it also depends on how Gabe wins. If is is a close decision, then I would say no, he is not. If Gonzaga destroys Randy, then I would say yes.
