Default What Fighter First Got You Interested in MMA?

I know this has been done before but not in quite some time so oh well, it is interesting to find out what fighters first got people interested in MMA.

Personally there are a number of different fighters that I really enjoyed watching after learning of MMA but the 1 sole person that got me interested in MMA was Ken Shamrock. Ken was the face of MMA back then dating back to UFC 1 and of course his Pancrase days. I then started learning of Bas Rutten, Royce Gracie, Frank Shamrock, Dan Severn, Tank Abbot, Don Frye, etc.

Frank Shamrock! Also didn't know what it really was when I first started training we called it Shoot Fighting. And I took it up because I just wanted to try a rougher MA than what I was doing.

Man, back in the day it was Mikey Burnett, Pat Miletich, Maurice Smith, and of course Royce Gracie.

I took a hiatus for a while, and then the guys I was interested in when I started watching again were Couture, Liddell, Wanderlei, and BJ Penn.

UFC 46 karo vs st pierre

that was the fight that got me hooked on mma. i dont think ive missed a ufc since. i think it appealed to me even more becuase st pierre is a french canadian and thats my background.

i got into pride about a year ago when i heard about gomi and wanted to see him fight. since then ive been hunting down every pride fight i can get my hands on.

When Mark Kerr kneed Greg Stott in the head at UFC 15, I was hooked on the sport for good. I loved Mark Kerr after that and was totally heartbroken when I saw "The Smashing Machine" documentary.

I still hold on to the hope that Kerr can still get his shit together.

You and me both. Kerr was my favorite fighter back then.

Royce, Taktarov, Don Frye and Remco Pardoel got me into MMA.

Sakuraba opened my eyes to a lot as well.

^^^ agree with Saku
Sakuraba, Igor and Wandy really intrigued me and i would root for them whenever they fought, even though i had been casually watching the UFC for many years and remember enjoying Royce, Tank, Coleman and all those guys , my love for mma and my real interest in following it and all the matches that had took place started when i stumbled upon Pride about 2 years ago, after seeing it on "Eurosport".
