Matt Hughes, and it's funny because UFC 65 made me a full time fan out of me

-Vitor Belfort- Tank Abbott- Dan Savern - Ken Shamrock

-The Coleman vs. Frye fight was one of my fav. fights back in the day.

-A fighter named Mark Shultz, he beat Gary Goodridge in UFC 8 ( I think) "david vs goliath" Mark SChultz was my wrestling coach at the time.

Frank's win over Tito pretty much solidified me as a lifelong fan.

Ever since I was real little, before I even started school, I was always a big fan of martial arts movies and pro wrestling stuff like that. My family also had illegal cable back than I used to get all the ppvs for free and I remember watching the early UFCs with my brother and always being a big fan of the fighters. I also remember at a young age watching VHS tapes of Dan Severn, Royce Gracie, Marco Ruas, and Ken Shamrock among many others. There's so many great fighters I've watched that I can't really just pin it on one single fighter or fight. All the fights made me a fan.

Matt Hughes... His slam on Carlos Newton got me hooked... I thought it was so awesome how powerful he was and he's been my favourite fighter since

SURPRISE ONE...

My knee jerk reaction was Royce and then after thinking about it...

Gerard Gordeau!

UFC 1 He kicks the sumo wrestler Teila Tuli in the mouth and knocks his tooth out of the ring and then punches him so hard in the eye that he breaks his hand. He goes on to fight with a broken hand and stomps out some chump and then rolls a couple of minutes with Royce before RNC'd and tapping.

His career in mma was short lived but not many people who saw that first UFC would forget the Dutchman. He went on to fight one more time where the son of a bitch gouged Yuki Nakai's right eye so bad he went blind in it and Yuki still went on to submit Gerard.

Maybe I just liked him because he was from Amsterdam.

Then Royce... then Shammy

What was that guys name (he was a thinner black fighter) that broke his arm beating the sumo fighter (I think it was him- been SO long) over the head- BUT HE DIDN"T STOP! He kept beating the guy with his broken arm. It was sick- and awesome. lol

Edit: Oh and remember Jason Delucia back then- I really believed that kung fu was THE martial art then.
