GSP Interview
Once again sorry if anyone has already posted this. i checked the search and didnt see it.
GH: We're about a month or so away from the fight with Josh Koscheck. How is your training camp going?
GSP: I'm in the best shape of my life. Physically, mentally -- everything is good right now.
GH: Koscheck has been on a tremendous roll as of late. What are your thoughts on your opponent?
GSP: Josh Koscheck is a very tough opponent. He's one of the best guys in the division.
GH: The top guy in the division right now is of course, Matt Serra. After your fight with Serra, you were very complimentary towards him, but since then, the tide seemed to have turned a little bit. Is there anything that caused the friction between yourself and Serra?
GSP: The thing is, a lot of people got very mad at me when I lost that fight. A lot of people were asking me, "What happened to you, Georges? How come you didn't look so sharp? How come you looked so different?"
I felt like I had to explain myself and my version of the story. And by doing this, it was disrespectful to Serra. It took away some of his credit. After I realized what I said, I apologized to him about what I said. I do not want to take anything away from him. I don't want to give any excuses. I am a professional athlete. I took that fight. I knew I'd have to deal with the consequences of a loss, and I'd have to deal with it like a man. That's what happened. And now I look to the future.
GH: What do you think about the Pride purchase? Is it good for the sport?
GSP: Absolutely. It's great for the sport because we can unify the titles. It'll be great for the fighters and the fans.
GH: Has the UFC mentioned anything about potential unification fights down the line if you were to win your next two fights?
GSP: I don't know exactly what's going to happen. From what I've heard, they are going to get the champions to face each other and that would be a great thing.
GH: That would be huge. Of course, the similar Pride champion is the aforementioned Gomi, and he sits in the middle of 155 and 170. In the past, we had heard that you may be interested in actually moving up to 185 pounds to take on Anderson Silva. Are you still comfortable at 170?
GSP: I am very comfortable at 170. People think that I am bigger than I am. I don't cut much weight. One day when I become world champion again and I have the opportunity to go up and I don't have much competition in my division, I think I would go up.

I love it how he tries to blame other people for what he said about Serra, you know calling him a can. Still don't like the guy for that and never will.
BTW, GSP is not going to beat down Kos, GSP is going to be in for the fight of his life with Kos. I hope he better at throwing subs off his back, because the last time he tried that he got arm barred.

I think Gsp is gonna have a much harder fight than people think, i think he is gonna win by decision, dont think he will be able to put koschek away.

lol what is wrong with what he said? He said people were angry at why he wasnt so sharp, he explained why and he meant it in a negative towards him, not Serra. The truth is, the only negative thing he said was that he didnt think the fight would be hard because it is Matt Serra.. Not once has he said Serra got a lucky shot or anything of the sort. He said HE was unprepared, he never said Serra got lucky or didn't deserve the win.
Serra, like usual, acting all cry baby-like and got mad at GSP for doing something that Serra makes a career out of... saying something about another fighter, only difference is that GSP wasnt discrediting Serra. Serra's retort is to make rude remarks by calling him Frenchy...
Sorry, but if you look at the facts and the words.. Serra is the asshole, not GSP.

I don't see a lack of competition in the WW weight class any where in the future.

whoa buddy, might want too put down the st.pierre juice just for a sec. I agree that Serra overreacted but saying that if it were Matt Hughes he never would have taken the fight but since it was Serra he did, is an extremely disrepectful thing too say.

like I said, the only disrepectful thing he said was that comment. In this comment, he admits that he underestimated Serra and that Serra is better than GSP thought he was (clearly, since GSP lost), and he is being honest. Look, GSP's hands aren't clean, he probably should and would have just said nothing. Sorry, but this is rediculous.. GSP thought exactly what most people thought going into this fight. Serra was going to get torn apart. At least he is admitting those were his thoughts.
EVERYONE thought the same thing and vocalized it. Dana, Rogan, Couture, etc.... Yet, he vocalizes it post fight and gets ripped for what everyone was saying before the fight. Sorry, but it is an amazing bunch of crap why he is talking all the heat for what everyone thought before the fight. So, tell me, why isn't Couture and co. taking shit for saying the same thing? It makes no sense. GSP explained his feelings and why he trained so little. He made the mistake, never said otherwise. I feel like a broken record on this topic.
P.S. GSP thinking Serra was going to be an easy fight, and saying so, is MUCH less disrespectful than Serra making a Derrogatory comment like saying "Frenchy", so why isn't Serra getting a shit storm twice as large?
