Default quick stopages

i think the refs in the UFC jump in there a little to quickly, i understand that there looking out for the well being of the fighter, but they have to realize these guys can take a punch. it seams once a guy falls down from a punch the refs are in there right away without giving the fighter who is down chance to recouperate. these fighters train not only to give punishment but also to receive punishment. i think thats why the tittles in the UFC have changed hands so often. give the champ a little extra time to try and recoup after he takes a punch and gets knocked down. there champs because they overcome adversity.

sometimes they do but it isn't easy being a ref. I know i wouldn't want to have that kind of responsibiltiy on my shoulders

Yeah, I completely agree. Sometimes I find myself disappointed in a particular ref, but after a while I realize how hard their job is. It's hard enough making decisions that you know you can't really retract, but to do it in front of so many people? I can see it being a bit stressful.

Sometimes a little early, but to err on the side of caution might be better, what how would the discussion be like if a ref let the fight go to long and the fighter was injured because of it.

I would rather have a quick stoppage than risk a career ending injury or worse.

I do think the UFC needs to acknowledge the human error factor...in ALL the officials, both refs and judges. A controversial win needs to go down as a controversial win, and rematches should be granted.

If I was a fighter who caught a controversial W, I'd want a rematch to prove it was legit.

But in most professional sports there's an unspoken code to never formally acknowledge the possibility that with 100's of decisions to make, a ref or a judge could make a mistake--which is understandable, but stupid.
