A little surprise at my BJJ class tonight
Didn't know where this belonged, so I just decided to post it here. Mods can move it if you want.
So anyway I get home from work today and my brother says the class instructor called to make sure we were all coming to class tonight because there was going to be a black belt there tonight and it was the first night in the new facility. I go into class thinking that it's probably going to be Agnaldo, the black belt who is moving here from Brazil to teach at our academy who we have been waiting for for quite some time now. I get there, and the instructors say that's not the case, that it will be Marcos Barros, the black belt who teaches at Gracie Barra Springfield, IL and he will be accompanied by none other than Flavio Almeida!
Now I don't know if you guys are familiar with him, but Flavio got second place in this year's ADCC championships in the 77-87 kg category among numerous other titles, and is Ricardo Almeida's brother. I couldn't believe that I had the oppurtunity to train with such an amazingly talented grappler, and tonight was by far my favorite class I've ever been to. My friend Curtis (who some of you may remember from a video I posted a while back of one of his MMA fights) challenged him to a roll, and in 6 minutes was tapped out 8 times lol, so that gave us all a pretty good laugh.'
I was amazed with how humble he was, given that he was easily the best grappler to ever enter our gym, and he was very helpful and encouraging of every one of the students there tonight. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience and I was glad to have been there.

Haha no way man....he dominated my friend, who is way better than me so I just kinda avoided contact with him lol. He did one move where he was on his back, grabbed Curtis's sleeves, put his feet into Curtis's hips, and rocked backwards so that Curtis was off the ground completely, on the guy's feet, and then he dropped one leg so that Curtis fell to the side, and had him arm barred before he hit the ground. It was incredible seeing that and knowing that my friend was trying to fight it lol. There was nothing he could do against this guy.

Haha what's really funny is he's one of those guys who has such an enormous ego that he can't enjoy the idea of him being schooled by a supremely talented grappler. He was completely fine with it in class, and was really humble in defeat, but as soon as we got in the car to make our 40 minute drive home, he started with the "Did I do alright against him for a white belt? How bad did I do? I hung with him for a little while right? Well he's been training for 15 years, and I've only been doing it for 6 months so this is normal, right?" I was like come on man....you got your ass kicked yeah, but the guy took second place in Abu-Dhabi....so what the hell did you expect? I hope this maybe knocked his head back into this world. I swear....he wins one MMA fight and thinks he's a superstar. lol
