Should be fun while it lasts, but Cotto is clearly the big favorite with all the advantages. Of course, I've been a fight fan long enough to know to always expect the unexpected, and in a month where Juan Diaz and Andy Lee have suffered big upsets, you just never know. Gomez is a good enough boxer to outsmart and outfox Cotto, but otherwise, he doesn't hit hard enough to really trouble Cotto.

Really, this fight was made because it makes money, and really, Cotto deserves a bit of a breather after fighting Judah and Mosley consecutively. Which brings me to Margarito/Cintron II.

The winner of that fight is supposed to fight Cotto in a unification bout in July or August, and personally, I think Margarito wastes Cintron once again. Cotto/Margarito is a can't miss action fight, the winner of which more than deserves the right to fight Fraud Mayweather.

I didn't know Andy Lee lost. Do you know who beat him and where I can catch the fight?

Yeah, Lee lost to Brian Vera, who's probably most well known for getting starched by Jaidon Codrington on the recent season of The Contender. It was a great fight, on that Lee was winning up until he got stopped. It was a 7th round TKO I think, and Lee was in trouble, but the ref stopped it way too early. I mean, Lee layed into Vera with a straight left right when he got stopped. You might be able to catch the fight on youtube, perhaps.

Even though I thought Lee was winning the fight, he also showed me he still needs a lot more experience before he even thinks about whiffing for a title fight, especially against a monster like Pavlik. As good a boxer as he is, he still gets hit too much and has a hard time on the inside. He still doesn't know how to hold on when he actually needs too and he does get a little lazy at times, which is what led to him getting stoppped. Manny Steward is his trainer of course, and he was proclaiming Lee as being middleweight champion by the end of the year. Even if he beat Vera, at this stage, Pavlik would have crushed him. So back to the drawing board. Hopefully, this loss doesn't derail him. Lee's a good kid with a lot of upside, and this loss might be more like the one loss that David Haye suffered early in his career before rebounding to become cruiserweight champion.

The fights will definitely be on HBO, but I dont know if its PPV or not.

Im taking Margarito, but I think Cintron is powerful enough to hurt Margarito if he can connect cleanly.

The Andy Lee/Brian Vera fight was the main event on Friday Night Fights. Aaron Pryor jr. was on the undercard in an interesting fight. Gotta
TIVO that Friday Night Fights Harlem..cheap, good entertainment.

Also, the stoppage of Lee was one of the few I have seen of a guy who never went down and was actually throwing a punch when the ref stepped in. Maybe he had enough, but I would have let him go a little longer. He didnt complain much at the stoppage, so from that alone I assume the ref got it correct.

I really want to see Gomez make a fight out of it. He's a solid boxer, solid chin, and has shocked me before. But he's being thrown to the wolves against a red hot Cotto. I hope its a closer fight than the odds are showing.

That body shot that Margarito gave Cintron was sick. Maragarito had the fight from the beginning and finished Cintron in the 6th.

Gomez just stepped in the ring, I like the guy I hope he can hope he can hold out to the decision, But I doubt it.

**EDIT**Man Gomez got worked its a good thing they stopped it. After getting worked in the first two rounds his power was completely gone, and Cotto just picked him apart. Why didn't he call out Mayweather when questioned about it though, thats the best fight in boxing today.

Like many said would happen. Cotto completely outclassed Gomez.
