Wow figured it'd be Cro Cop winning this poll but not by that much of a landslide. I really hope Cro Cop turns it around in 2008

I should've voted Anderson because the man i a monster in the MW division, but I went with Rampage. The guy he had to beat to win it was on a 7 fight win streak. He defended against one of the best P4P fighters in the world in Hendo in a great hard fought decision from both fighters. That's my reasoning anyway.

Honestly, the biggest disappointing fighter to me is Randy Couture.
I once had a lot of respect for him as an individual and a fighter...but currently, he's a bigger disappointment than CC for me. His recent decisions have tarnished both his integrity, and his fighting legacy, in my perception.
Cro Cop winning this poll by a landslide? Any fighter can go through a tough patch. Whether it's adjusting to the cage, lack of mental focus, or even the highly unlikely event that he was juicing in PRIDE, CC only affected himself in his two stunning losses.
Randy, handed big money and a title shot straight out of retirement [despite an 8-4 HW record], very publically turns his back on the UFC. He insults Big Nog and the rest of the division by stating they aren't worthy of his time and effort. He fails to honor a contract, thus role modeling horrible prima donna behavior. He airs private concerns in various public forums, and creates day-time-soap opera melodrama out of what could have been a fairly routine contract renegotiation.
And he leaves the UFC with yet another interim title.
I find that profoundly disappointing.
I'm not going to get into the semantics of "Well, Fedor should have..." or "Fedor's management should have..." or "Dana should have..."
That's all bullshit. Fedor looks to his management to make decisions, and I've never trusted Fedor's management. I've also never really trusted Dana White. I don't expect much out of either party.
But I did expect a lot out of Randy. Granted, he doesn't personally owe me anything, but minimally, he signed a contract. Honor it or shut up.
And to say Fedor is the only fight that makes sense is really just another way of saying Fedor is the only fight Randy can afford to lose.
Mikro? He's been a great fighter. He will either come back, or he won't. If he comes stalking back with even a couple highlight reel KO's, all sins are forgotten and forgiven, particularly with the soundbite-sized memories of a lot of casual MMA fans. If he doesn't, I have PRIDE dvd's to remember him at his peak...fighters rise, and fall, it's the nature of the game.
But I don't think I can ever see Randy in the same way as I once did.
If, by some twist of fate, Tim gets past Nogs, I could see Randy wanting that fight. If I were Joe Silva, I wouldn't give it to him. And if Silva does, it will be the first time I've ever been behind big Tim in a fight.
That's right--right now, I'd actually rather see big Tim with the belt again than Randy.
And if that's not the very definition of disappointment, I don't know what is.
