Wow this thread is making me laugh my ass off.
Diego outwrestling Hughes... are you kidding me?!?!?!? Diego was a state champion of New Mexico, a state that is not known for its wrestling. Matt Hughes is a 2x D1 College All-American. Diego had a hard time taking down Alessio and Riggs throw off his takedown attempt like it was nothing. You suddenly expect him to take down Hughes with ease? I somehow doubt that.
Diego outstriking Hughes... laughable to. Diego has not out striked anyone in his career. Even Riggs, who he caught off balanced. Sure Hughes is not a very good striker either, but Diego is nothing speical when it comes to striking.
Diego submitting Hughes.... LOL. Diego does not submit anyone, he wins by decision. He could not even submit a tired and hurt Karo when he had a rear naked choke at the end of third. And you expect him to submit Hughes, a guy that fought out of Trigg's deep choke and did not tap when Penn, a world class BJJ practioner, had him in a triangle arm-bar. Where as Hughes has submitted the likes of Riggs, GSP, Trigg, and probably a couple of other guys I cant think of right now.
Finally and the funniest of them all, Diego outpowering Hughes. Everyone that has fought and trained with Hughes has said the guy is the strongest human being they have ever rolled with. The guy is a freak of nature when it comes to strength. Diego is strong dont get me wrong, but Hughes is still far stronger then him. If Diego tried to outpower Hughes he would learn real fast it is a mistake.
So yea, all you guys thinking that Diego would dominate Hughes have to remember that even after his lost to GSP, Hughes is still Hughes. The guy that dominated his wieght class for about 4 years. He would bring Diego right back to earth with a slam and GnP him or submit him the first.
