I disagree, obviously. The rule says "you must intelligently defend yourself at all times." The rule doesn't say "you must intelligently defend yourself at all times, except when you are not taking maximum damage." or "you must intelligently defend yourself at all times, except when you are taking only minimal damage."
If the round would have continued, Vera would have been mounted, not improving his position, and not fighting back for A FULL MINUTE!
So he didn't have a right to complaint, IMO.
The only reason I might have wanted the fight to continue a little longer was so that Werdum could have knocked Vera's face in. Let's call a spade a spade, Vera wasn't getting out of the round, there was about 30 seconds left...Vera should have been thanking the ref. for stopping it, b/c now he is not as injured as he surely would have been and is in better shape to take a quick fight, and didn't get a medical suspension.
