A while back there was anrticle going around about what an MMA fighters record should be. It was brought up because a certain state would not sanction a fight for Vernon WHite because he was signed to fight a guy with only a 2-1 MMA record and couldn't get it sanctioned, but the guy was like 33-6 in total kickboxing, grappling, and MMA events. From that article, it insinunated that each state's atheletic commision views MMA records differently. A guy like Matt Serra may be 16-5 in NJ, but only 9-5 in Nevada. Several promoters or agencies are trying to get a "Combat Sports" record. This way a guy like KJ Noons could have his Pro Boxing record incorporated into his MMA record, or Marcus Davis, or even Nick Diaz, all of which have professional boxing records. This would also factor in kickboxing, MT, pancrase, or any other 'striking' sport records.
