Ill be cheering for Fitch, but I think he has more to prove in that fight that whats already been proven.. I dont see him going into the fight with much of an advantage.. GSP may not be a great striker, but hes shown better striking ability then Fitch has.. hes shown better wrestling then Fitch has.. and the BJJ game between the two is a wash.. on top of that GSP seems to have the edge in strength and athleticism too..
Not saying Fitch cant win and that hes clearly outmatched but I think hes gonna have to bring a game that he hasnt in any of his previous fights to beat GSP.. what im saying is.. prior to this fight Fitch is not the better wrestler but he could go into this fight and prove that wrong, and outwrestle GSP.. IMO hes gonna have to in order to beat him.. simply improve his wrestling game beyond GSPs and considering hes a collegiate wrestler from Purdue im sure he can train himself to that level.. we'll see though.. but IMO wrestling will be the key for him.. not striking, or BJJ.
Okami vs Silva.. we seem to over-credit Silva on these boards... great fighter.. one the Top 3 P4P fighters for sure.. but we seem to ignore his weaknesses a lot on this forum just because hes such a great fighter..
Anderson Silva in every fight has to overcome his weaknesses.. unlike GSP who goes into fights with tons of edges and rarely has to overcome anything.. where in GSP's case its his opponent who has to overcome there weaknesses.. thats not the case with Silva.. every fight hes been in.. hes had to struggle with the ground game.. and hes fighting another fighter who can take him to the ground
Now, I think in a fight.. Henderson would beat Okami.. but its not a sure thing cuz Hendo could have another Misaki moment.. but vs Silva.. Okami has a better chance IN THIS PARTICULAR FIGHT
I know im writing alot here but, just listen lol Okami's best chance at beating Silva comes now and heres why..
Okami has fought Silva before.. he knows how Silva fights, hes felt it.. that helps a lot in a fight
Not only that, Okami may not be the wrestler Henderson is.. but hes got Henderson's mistakes to study from.. as well as his own.
Okami is a Judo/Wrestler fighter.. many many different ways to take his opponent down on top of that the Judo aspect of his game helps with the grappling.. something Hendo didnt have once he got to the ground.. the Judo aspect is gonna help (not saying it will prevent) fend off A Silva's BJJ game
Now heres the icebreaker for me in this fight.. if you watch the first Anderson Silva/Okami fight.. A Silva has come along way from that fight.. he went from decent fighter to champ no doubt.. but Okami.. he completely changed everything about him.. he was a skinnnny japanese fighter in that first fight, now hes strong as hell and in much, much better shape so.. to me Okami is facing a similar Anderson Silva from the first fight.. and Anderson Silva is facing a completely different Yushin Okami.. thats gonna make a difference.
I am not picking Okami though, I want him to win.. I like him more.. but im gonna stick with the hot hand for now.
