As some/most of you know I'm doing an english paper on why Boxing is more Brutal than MMA. I have been getting fight count/fight finish counts to compare together to prove my case. It is an argumentative paper so if you don't agree that Boxing is more brutal, then that is your opinion. Anyways, tonight I did boxing result tables. I still need a stat tracker listing for average punches thrown in a match if anyone knows of a place I can find one. I used a smaller result period for boxing because there are so many different Orgs that I just used about the same amount of UFC fights I took data from.
Anyways here ya go.
Quote:
Boxing WBA,WBC, IBF, WBO Finish Counts
448 Total sanctioned boxing matches from 2/10/08 to 5/07/08
73 KO's = 16% of fights end in KO
169 TKO = 38% end in TKO
198 Judges Decisions = a whopping 44%
8 Draw's = 2%
23 Fights ended in the 1st round = 5%
39 Fights ended in 2nd = 9%
35 Fights ended in 3rd = 8%
29 Fights ended in 4th = 6%
27 Fights ended in 5th = 6%
295 Fights lasted longer than 5 rounds - 66%
I chose to group rounds 6-12 together because a standard MMA contest is 3 5 minute rounds usually or in Pride a 10 min and 5 min round. Either way 15 minutes. In boxing, each round is 3 min long so 5 rounds = 15 min.

So basically what I am using this chart to prove is that most boxing matches last longer than a FULL length standard MMA fight. Much higher risk for head trauma.
Oh and there has been 31 separate Title defenses. If you cared. lol
