GSP beat both Sherk, Penn, Trigg and his loss to Hughes was fluke, mentally he was not focused and too young I discount that loss because of his last two dominating performances over Hughes.

Do you actually believe if GSP fought Hughes 5 more times that GSP wouldn't do the same thing to Hughes he did to him the last two times they fought?

Muhammad Ali is considered the greatest of all time cause he defeated everyone, even the guys he lost to. Now say that he fought Foreman 3 times and Foreman KO'ed him twice in the 2nd round and he could never defeated Fraizer, well how could could anyone consider him the greatest.

With Hughes he was submitted twice by Hallmean in a total of 37 seconds in two fights, and even now I pick Hallman in a fight against Hughes.

Hughes has always been a 2 dimensional fighter Great Wrestler, decent subs, good cardio, zero boxing and soon as a fighter that emerged that could stuff his takedowns and was an above average striker he didn't have an answer. With out his takedowns Hughes is like a turtle on his back.
The Dennis Hallman argument has always been lame, but I can't say I've ever seen it along side the discounting of Hughes defeat of GSP. So let me get this right. Hughes defeat of GSP didn't mean anything because GSP was in the first couple years of his career. However, Hallman beating Hughes in the first couple years of his mma career says it all. I guess Hughes should have DECIMATED Hallman when he was at his peak and that would make it all good. Wonder why that fight didn't happen???

Hughes beat the best fighters available AT THE TIME. It doesn't mean shit to try and compare that to the skill sets of todays fighters. Today's fighters are benefiting from all the knowledge gleaned from the past. The camps are better, the trainers are better, etc, etc, etc. It's like trying to compare computers to typewriters.

One last thing. Hughes didn't just beat Royce. He beat him at his own game, BJJ. Royce was NOT going to tap, so Hughes chose not to injury the guy.
