GSP has beaten Hughes and Penn and Trigg. But he still hasn't defended that title 5 times.
There is no denying Hughes is the greatest of all time, and imo GSP can have a better reign and a better legacy imo, but first he has to beat Hughes record.
If Hughes isn't the greatest, then who is. GSP or Penn would have to be your other options and seeing Penn doesn't have many wins at ww and GSP did lose to Hughes and Serra, and has never defended the belt. Kind of makes it hard for them to be a head of Hughes.
If Anderson keeps it up, he has a chance to go down as the greatest MW of all time, but because he has lost would that mean its bullshit.
Just because some one has lost, does not mean they can't be the greatest.

GSP beat both Sherk, Penn, Trigg and his loss to Hughes was fluke, mentally he was not focused and too young I discount that loss because of his last two dominating performances over Hughes.
Do you actually believe if GSP fought Hughes 5 more times that GSP wouldn't do the same thing to Hughes he did to him the last two times they fought?
Muhammad Ali is considered the greatest of all time cause he defeated everyone, even the guys he lost to. Now say that he fought Foreman 3 times and Foreman KO'ed him twice in the 2nd round and he could never defeated Fraizer, well how could could anyone consider him the greatest.
With Hughes he was submitted twice by Hallmean in a total of 37 seconds in two fights, and even now I pick Hallman in a fight against Hughes.
Hughes has always been a 2 dimensional fighter Great Wrestler, decent subs, good cardio, zero boxing and soon as a fighter that emerged that could stuff his takedowns and was an above average striker he didn't have an answer.With out his takedowns Hughes is like a turtle on his back.
