Due to the lack of quality training partners in my area....I often find myself at the top of the food chain so to speak where I train....I think its a blast to sometimes stick my neck out and challenge myself every once in a while... I was at a Pedro Sauer seminar a few months back and he encouraged us to do just what you're talking about. He said you really should have to tap a couple times every time you train, even if you're really good. He basically said its good to occasionally put yourself in a bad spot on purpose, to learn how to get out of crappy situations.

hey Sundance, keep it up, good stuff. and I know it can be hard but try to relax when you spar. It will not only help you to avoid getting winded, it will also allow you to feel your opponent better so you can react to his weight shifting, subtle changes in position, and mistakes that you can capitalize on. relaxing doesn't mean you don't go hard, it just means you aren't tensed up all the time, and when you do act decisively it will be more effective
