Cung Le did win the title in his respective sport in more than one division. He wasn't fighting cans. To be the man, you have to beat the man, and that he did.

As far as striking is concerned you can pretty much make a hell of an argument that Cung is better than most if not all, MMArtists in his respective division. Chuck Liddell doesn't come close to his speed, defense, and versitility IMO.

BTW, even Floyed Mayweather fought cans at first just to get used to the Pro atmosphere, so does every other boxer. The only reasons why some MMA fighters fight top notch comp. fairly quickly is because a lot of them are JuJitsu champions, NCAA world class wrestlers, Sambo and the like. For a person starting with little to no ground game initially would be making an extreme transition.

You wouldn't want him ending up like Kit Cope would you?
